When is the art retreat available?

The art retreat with artist Maria Grossbaum in Goodnestone, Kent, England, takes place between May 17 – 24, 2024.


Is Wi-Fi available?

Wi-Fi is available in the dining and living rooms, workshop spaces, common areas, and all rooms.


I am vegetarian/ vegan. Can I book this art retreat?

Yes. The venue will do its utmost to cater to all dietary requirements notified in advance. However, please keep in mind that we cannot cater to severe, life-threatening allergies. Please note that the menu will depend on the availability of the seasonal ingredients used.


Do I need a visa?

Guests traveling from the US, Canada, EU, and/or Schengen member states may enter the UK for tourist purposes without a visa.


How many people are to be expected on the retreat?

Maximum 16 participants.


What art supplies do I need for the art classes?

You will not need to bring art supplies, you will be provided with them at the retreat. You are welcome to bring your own favourite brushes, any water based paints, (Acrylics, inks, tempera, gouache, watercolor etc) or other desired art materials.


What should I pack?

The weather in Kent is mild and pleasant in May. You can expect average highs of 15°C / 59°F during the day that drop to around 8°C / 46°F at night. However, in recent years temperatures have varied unpredictably. We recommend you check the weather yourself before your departure and pack accordingly.

Please note, showers can be expected so make sure you bring an umbrella or a lightweight Mac. 


Is there a local currency I should acquire before arriving?

Please take out British pounds cash from an ATM at the airport, in London. Visa/Mastercard is widely accepted but you will find that not everyone takes American Express. It is a good idea to take out some GBP from the ATM at the airport for taxis, small purchases, visiting the market, and tipping. Make sure you notify your bank that you'll be using your card in the UK.


How do I get to the retreat venue?

Please fly to London Heathrow Airport and take the train to Canterbury from London Victoria Train Station (1 hour 15 mins-1 hour 30 mins journey). Private transfers from/to Canterbury Station are included at prearranged times. 


Can I do laundry while on the retreat?

The retreat venue has laundry facilities, which you can use for free during your stay.
