MEMORIES OF SUMMER
An Art Journey with Nature’s Treasures
WELCOME TO "MEMORIES OF SUMMER"!
“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees… I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.”
F. Scott Fitzgerald
CREATE A UNIQUE BOTANICAL MIXED MEDIA PAINTING
Nature is the greatest teacher. Flowers and plants remind us of life’s rhythm: they bloom, fade, yet leave behind traces of beauty. In this course, we will give these traces — dry flowers, leaves, seed pods, and grasses — a second life and transform them into art.
After years of experimenting, I’ve developed unique methods of working with dried plants, and now I’m excited to share them with you.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
• How to select the right elements — dried flowers, leaves, seeds, seed pods, grasses
• Secrets of fixing and preserving natural objects on canvas
• Composition principles to make your work dynamic and harmonious
• How to use extraordinary materials: interference and fluorescent acrylics, gold leaf, rhinestones
• Step by step, you’ll create both a painting and a botanical scene using these techniques
And much more, including training exercises.
I’m a big supporter of using what you have on hand. And although there is a supply list, please feel free to substitute. A must have? Light modeling paste listed in list of materials.

My paintings is the creation of opposites in a variety of rhythms and textures.
I combine different materials in order to overcome the challenge of achieving harmony and unity in my work. Some of my paintings are highly textured and have imbedded objects.
I explore this fine line of ambiguity between pure abstraction and implied realism through the process of layering color and organic texture. My objective is to evoke a sensation or memory in the viewer, of a place remembered or imagined, without literal reference to landscape.
